The Yes Man

Hello,

Are some people just born positive?  Maybe so.  Just as we are genetically predisposed to our physical characteristics, I admit that our parents attitudes influence our attitudes – although I suspect this is primarily due to the example they set for us.  As children, we see how the people around us react to situations, and we choose to model the people and the behaviors that we see.  No news here.

There is also no doubt that positivity is a powerful force in the world and in the lives of billions of individuals.   Wonderful books, such as Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking and James Allen’s As A Man Thinketh, just to name a few, prove that you become how you thinkSo, how does one become positive?  Like anything worthwhile, it takes a concerted effort.  You must really want it … deeply desire the benefits that positivity will deliver to you and those around you.  When you have this hunger, it will help you to persevere and carry you to your goal.  Here are a few techniques that have worked for many:

Positive People:    Surround yourself with positive people.  Eliminate the negative people from your “bus”.  They drain our energy and our enthusiasm.  Start with one… then keep going.

Daily Affirmations and Quotes:  Get up 20 minutes early and read aloud 10-20 positive statements or “affirmations”.  I’ve got 15 …  and they work.  The first is “My life is a beautiful, enriching experience, and I am filled with wonder at life’s magnificence.”  Want the others?  Just ask.

Read Positive Stuff:  There are thousands of uplifting books that show us how others have changed their world.  I’ve mentioned a few already, but a few of my favorites are 6 Questions That Can Change Your Life by Joseph Nowinski and Relax, You’re Already Perfect by Bruce D. Schneider.

The Yes Man:  The last technique is my secret ingredient.  Well, not anymore.  Get yourself a “Yes Man”  I bought it on eBay, but there are other sites that carry them.  I am not selling them and have no relationship with anyone that does.  It will cost you less than $30.  You’ll have to check out the video to see him in action.

All the best,

Ed
